MESSAGE ON 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER (YR C)
Friday 20th May 2022.
My dear people,
Our parish retreat last week was very successful. Feedback received from parishioners who attended was that it was very beneficial to them. The day was filled with great talks and praise and worship. I was able to join them for lunch between the different commitments I had during the day. Let us hope more such retreats can be held in the parish.
There are some works being carried out to the left of the sliding doors at the entrance of the church. A small shed was donated and after consulting with many different people, it was decided to place it next to the church sliding doors. The shed will be used as a storage facility. Those who have had to go into the current store room for different reasons would have seen how small it is for everything that we keep in there. Much of what is in the store room will now go in the shed.
Pentecost Sunday is on 5th June this year and we are organising a wonderful day called Ablaze Pentecost. Ablaze Pentecost will definitely be a celebration of the Holy Spirit! The day will include Mass, delicious food from the different cultures of the people in the parish and a powerful prayer rally where there will be multiple ways in which you can encounter the Holy Spirit. Kindly book via https://www.trybooking.com/BZLWC to give us an indication of attendance at the event. There is also a sign-up sheet in the gathering space to indicate what food you will bring and the number of people who will come with you. I strongly encourage you to plan your day so that you are here from 10:30 am until 3pm to partake of this wonderful opportunity to celebrate the presence of the Holy Spirit among us.
We continue to pray for the students in our parish who will celebrate the sacraments of initiation this year. May the reception of these sacraments be for them a blessed opportunity to encounter the Risen Lord who seeks to be their friend and companion.
I am continuing conversations with our parish staff about ways to make the running of the parish more efficient. After some conversations with the Finance Office of the Archdiocese as well as the Human Resources Department, we are looking at ways to use different software to streamline some of the operations of the office. Once these are finalised, I will inform you of any update. For the time being, Mary continues to be here, as a volunteer, on Tuesdays and on other days, when required. At this stage, given the potential improvements the use of different technology will bring, we are not going to hire another Parish Secretary.
While I endeavour to communicate with you as best as I can with what is happening in the parish, sometimes things may fall through the cracks. Please don’t hesitate to ask any question about anything that is happening in the parish. Of course, any comments and feedback are always very welcome and I will try my best to bring about any change for the betterment of the parish.
We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
