MESSAGE ON THE 3RD SUNDAY OF LENT (YR A)
Friday 10th March 2023.
My dear people,
At the Parish Leadership Team (PLT) meeting last night, we spoke at length about the Parish Town Hall which will take place on 23rd March. The first aim of the Town Hall is to present officially to you our financial position as at the end of 2022. Our Parish Accountant, Mr Bernard Negline, will be here to present the figures and answer questions you may have. The PLT believes that this will be an opportunity to share with you all the amazing achievements of our parish over the past few years. We will also discuss the results of the survey that was carried out in February. We will conclude with a discussion of our plans for the future of the parish. I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.
The new initiative whereby parishioners will be invited to give witness about their life of faith and their relationship with Jesus Christ will start this weekend. We look forward to hearing from Ann O’Brien who will be the first person to share with us.
We are very fortunate to have a parish retreat being run in our church next Saturday 18th March from 10:30am until 4pm. Entitled “Desire: Friendship, Love and Intimacy with God,” it promises to be an amazing opportunity to have a different and deeper experience of God. We usually speak of giving something up during Lent but there is also a possibility of taking something up for Lent. Going to a full day retreat would be a great occasion of taking something up and I strongly encourage you to consider doing that. I hope to see many to you there.
Another piece of exciting news is that our Ablaze Youth Group will now meet weekly on Fridays from 6 until 7:30pm. We have enlisted the help of the members of the Alliance of the Holy Family International who have much experience in the running of youth groups. On behalf of all of you, I would like to welcome them to the parish. We met with them last Sunday together with the current leaders of our youth group and a wonderful partnership for the leadership of our youth group was formed. Once finalised, I will communicate with you the structure of the weekly youth group of our parish.
We continue turning to our patron saint and asking for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
