MESSAGE ON THE 22ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR B)
Friday 30th August 2024.
My dear people,
“The Archbishop’s Campaign” has well and truly been launched all around the archdiocese now. However, if some of you have not yet had a chance to give to the campaign, please be advised that we still have many envelopes in the gathering space. A reminder that the aim of the campaign is to consolidate many of the appeals which used to be held throughout the year into one campaign. The funds raised for these appeals are used for the different ministries of the archdiocese.
Last Sunday afternoon, we started a new initiative in the parish whereby members of the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Readers of the parish had a fellowship in the form of a high tea. The respective coordinators, Mary and Regina were extremely gracious, together with the help of a team, in putting together some wonderful savouries and sweets. The purpose of this initiative is to bring members of ministries together for a bit of fellowship. Members of ministries tend to exercise their ministries at the same Mass every week and do not get the opportunity to meet people in the same ministry as them. This is also in line with one of the five systems of missionary renewal namely that of fellowship.
We are delighted to be hosting a fundraising concert on 19th October this year. During the first half of the show, Sean Luke Spiteri will transform into the Welsh legend, Tom Jones, with signature moves, a big strong Welsh accent and voice, performing classic hits. Sean will end the show with a tribute to Elvis Presley, the KING OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL singing some of the King’s greatest hits. Tickets are available on:

A reminder that we are hosting a “menALIVE” weekend in the parish on 5th and 6th October. “menALIVE” is a National Men’s Ministry founded to respond to the great need in the hearts and lives of men. Their purpose is to bring men together, to renew their faith and to encourage them to become an active force of renewal. Registrations are now open for the “menALIVE” weekend (https://www.trybooking.com/CTXJR).
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the fathers in our community a very Happy Father’s Day. Fathers have been given a truly wonderful vocation from God and for that we need to thank him. We continue to pray that he will give them, and indeed others who take on the role of father in many different ways, the strength and courage to continue with their vocation especially at times when being a father, although rewarding, can be difficult. Let us also pray that God provides them with more times of joy and solace. Happy Father’s Day to all fathers.
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
