MESSAGE ON THE 26TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YRB)
Thursday 26th September 2024.
My dear people,
The celebration of the Anniversary of the Dedication of our Church went very well last week. The prayers of the Mass that weekend spoke beautifully about the church being the place of worship where we seek fullness of redemption and that in the church, God manifests and accomplishes the mystery of his communion with us. Beautiful prayers indeed! The lunch which followed was magnificent in that it highlighted the many different cuisines and cultures in our parish, and it was wonderful to be able to sample so many different dishes. The most wonderful aspect of the lunch was that it brought so many of us together to celebrate the bond which unites us. We are truly blessed in our parish! A massive thank you to everyone who played a part in preparing every aspect of the celebration.
19th October is fast approaching! The organisers of the fundraising concert have recommended that tickets be bought as soon as possible in order to determine the viability of the show. As mentioned, it is an exciting opportunity to come together for some light entertainment while helping with the ongoing costs of running the parish. During the first half of the show, Sean Luke Spiteri will transform into the Welsh legend, Tom Jones, with signature moves, a big strong Welsh accent and voice, performing classic hits. Sean will end the show with a tribute to Elvis Presley, the KING OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL singing some of the King’s greatest hits. Tickets are available on:

The menALIVE weekend is also just one week away now! We were fortunate to hear from Harin Corea and Glen D’Cunha three weeks ago as they shared with us the benefits they experienced from the men ALIVE weekend. As previously mentioned, “menALIVE” is a National Men’s Ministry founded to respond to the great need in the hearts and lives of men. Their purpose is to bring men together, to renew their faith and to encourage them to become an active force of renewal. Registrations are now open for the “menALIVE” weekend
(https://www.trybooking.com/CTXJR). It is urgent that you book now if you intend to come, for catering purposes. I urge all the men of our parish to spare no effort in trying to attend the weekend and be open to what Our Lord has in store for you.
The donated drawing of the Divine Mercy has now been put up in the devotional area of the worship space. My hope is that its presence there will allow us, as a parish community, to grow in this wonderful devotion. I am truly looking forward to be able to pray to Our Lord, focussing particularly on his Divine Mercy for us, with the aid of this truly beautiful painting.
The weekly message is arriving to you on Thursday this week because of the public holiday tomorrow. I wish all of you a wonderful “Grand Final long weekend” and may the best team win!
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
