MESSAGE ON THE 27TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR B)
Friday 4th October 2024.
My dear people,
I woke up this morning with a sense of deep gratitude for it is the 7th anniversary of my appointment as your Parish Priest. I prayed in thanksgiving for the awesome gift of the priesthood and the wonderful privilege of being the Parish Priest. I also prayed that the Good Shepherd will continue to inspire and strengthen me to be the shepherd he wants me to be and that he will give me a heart after his own heart. Our Lord has called us on this wonderful journey of missionary renewal. Let us pray that we continue to see more people with transformed lives who, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, burn with the desire to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to every living soul!
We are only two weeks from our Annual Fundraising Concert. The organisers have recommended that tickets be bought as soon as possible in order to determine the viability of the show. As mentioned, it is an exciting opportunity to come together for some light entertainment while helping with the ongoing costs of running the parish. During the first half of the show, Sean Luke Spiteri will transform into the Welsh legend, Tom Jones, with signature moves, a big strong Welsh accent and voice, performing classic hits. Sean will end the show with a tribute to Elvis Presley, the KING OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL singing some of the King’s greatest hits. Tickets are available on:

This weekend, after the homily, you will be invited to fill out the parish census cards. As mentioned last week, we conduct our thanksgiving campaign every three years. The campaign is preceded by the parish census where we obtain information about the demographics of the parish. Once you have filled out your cards, they will be collected by the collectors. I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding with this very important aspect of the life of the parish.
We look forward to welcoming the children and staff of our parish schools starting this Monday after their two-week holiday. It will be wonderful for Greg and me to start visiting the two schools again. I have set myself the goal of visiting every year level of the two parish primary schools by the end of the fourth term of the year. This is one of my favourite activities as Parish Priest and I am truly looking forward to it.
Our menALIVE weekend starts tomorrow morning at 8am. At these stage, 38 men have registered, and it is still possible to register! I invite you to pray for the success of the weekend and for these men, that they will have an experience which will truly transform their hearts and make them better disciples of Our Lord. We pray that they will excel at the vocation to which they have been called, thereby increasing in their personal holiness.
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
