MESSAGE ON THE SOLEMNITY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE (YR B)
Friday 22nd November 2024.
My dear people,
The recruitment process to employ someone to share the role of Evangelisation Coordinator with Ann is well underway. We have received a few applications, and the process of shortlisting and interviewing will begin soon. I invite to continue praying for the parish as we move ahead with this most important task.
I would like to thank everyone who attended the launch of the Ablaze Young Adults Group in our parish, particularly those who put so much effort in organising and preparing the fantastic activities of the evening. We were delighted that 25 young adults joined us and there was great enthusiasm in the room. We are pleased to confirm that that Ablaze Young Adults will meet on the first and third Sundays of the month from 5pm to 7pm. I invite you to join me in praying for the success of this latest ministry in our parish.
We have finally received the results of the Annual Fundraiser held on 19th October this year. I am pleased to announce that we raised $1,148. This money will go towards the running costs of the parish. While this was not as much as last year’s fundraiser, I am deeply grateful that these funds were raised. We look forward to other events next year to bring us together as a parish community while raising some very needed funds to help with the running costs of the parish.
As announced at Masses last weekend, we will welcome Deacon Ian Vergel to our parish this weekend. Deacon Ian was ordained a deacon on 20th October this year in view of his ordination to the priesthood next year. Deacon Ian will be with us full time until Christmas. He will be on holiday in January and will return in February. He will then be with us during the weekends until his ordination. Let us keep Deacon Ian in our prayers as he starts the last leg of his journey towards ordination.
This Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King. This Solemnity concludes the Liturgical Year and the new Liturgical Year will start with Advent on Sunday 1st December. This Solemnity was instituted by Pope Pius Xi in 1925 to assert the kingship of Christ over us. We are reminded that the kingship of Christ is different from all others since he is simultaneously the ruler of all and the servant of all. This is wonderful material for our meditation! Happy Solemnity to everyone!
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
