MESSAGE ON THE 4TH SUNDAY OF LENT (YR C)
Friday 28th March 2025.
My dear people,
We have now firmly embarked on our Parish Offertory Giving Program. I thank all of you who have already taken the letter in the Gathering Space. Those of you who have not yet collected your letter are warmly encouraged to do so this weekend. The letter is for all people who are givers at the moment, be that by envelope dropped in the collection basket at Mass, by direct debit from a bank account or credit card. We are appealing to those who are regular contributors to consider increasing the amount given and those who are not giving through the program at the moment to consider joining the program. Please return your pledge card as soon as you can. My sincere thanks in advance for your generosity.
I am pleased to announce that some dates for training for the Grief and Bereavement Support ministry have been made available by Catholicare. I will be in touch with those who have contacted me and expressed their interest in joining this ministry. There is still time to join the ministry should you wish to do so. You are warmly invited to contact me and let me know of your interest.
As mentioned two weeks ago, the Holy Father has invited the whole church to dedicate some additional time to prayer on the fourth Sunday of Lent. In our archdiocese, an initiative was started called Fiat: A Weekend of Prayer over Friday 28 March to Sunday 30 March 2025. In our parish, we will have an additional hour of Adoration tomorrow evening, Saturday 29 March immediately following the 6pm Mass. You are all warmly invited to spend an hour in prayer with Our Lord as we seek to hearken to the appeal of Pope Francis.
The timetable for Holy Week and Easter is now available in the bulletin, on our website and on numerous posters around the church. I would like to direct your attention to the fact that the Easter Vigil will be early this year at 6:30pm. We are able to celebrate it early this year because daylight saving ends on 6 April, and sunset will be at 5:50pm.
The Feast Day of our Patron Saint will be on 29 April, and this date is also the Feast Day of our parish. Our Parish Feast Day will be celebrated on 26 April 2025 at 7.00pm in the CRC Cafeteria. It will include a spit roast and the cost per person will be $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for child (5-12 years old). Tickets will be sold at all the weekend Masses. Please contact Gordon Ross on 0409 932 876 if you have any questions.
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
