Message on the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Yr B)
My dear people,
It seems that a new routine is now upon us, both in our everyday lives and in the way in which we come to church. I do not mean to sound like a broken record but it is great to see so many of you in church.
We will be using the booking system to attend Mass only on the weekends ie all Masses on Saturday and Sunday. This includes Mass at 9.30am on Saturday morning. There is no need to book for Masses from Monday to Friday. Bookings for the weekends will open at 1pm on Sunday.
A gentle reminder that the Fully Vaccinated Masses are only for those who have received TWO doses of the vaccine and you must produce proof of vaccination or proof of exemption when you arrive in the church.
The Town Hall Follow Up held last week went well. The Archdiocese will be sending out a “Request for Proposal” soon inviting companies to bid for the work of auditing the facilities and letting us know whether they will meet the demands of the parish in the coming years. I look forward to sharing all of this with you once it starts.
Some wonderful news for the parish: I am delighted to announce we have employed Emily Angrisano as the Playgroup Leader. Emily is a qualified and experienced child care worker who is also one of our active parishioners. With the appointment of Emily, the playgroup will now run weekly. The playgroup is for pre-school aged children and their carers. The playgroup has huge potential given the demographics of the area where we live. We have noticed that there are many mothers interested in attending the group who are not necessarily church goers. As such, this group is showing to be a great opportunity for evangelisation within our community and needs someone devoted to the development and running of this group. Furthermore, as Emily settles in her new role, she will consider ways to start proper children ministry in the parish. I invite you to join me in welcoming Emily to the team. Emily will introduce herself to us at Masses over the next few weeks.
I would like to share with you that on 8th September, Archbishop Comensoli appointed me to the Personnel Advisory Board (PAB) of the Archdiocese. The PAB advises the Archbishop on the appointment of priests in the archdiocese. After the meeting of the PAB last Wednesday, I informed the Vicar General of my decision to end my liturgical roles with the archdiocese.
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
