MESSAGE ON 5TH SUNDAY OF EASTER (YR C)
Friday 13th May 2022
My dear people,
This year, May will be a month when many of our young parishioners will celebrate sacraments of initiation. On the weekend of 21st and 22nd May, the children not attending our catholic primary schools will receive Holy Communion for the first time. On 17th and 24th May, they will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation also for the first time. On 22nd and 29th May, children in Grade 6 from Christ the Priest Catholic Primary School and St George Preca Catholic Primary School respectively will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation during two Masses in the afternoon. I invite you to keep all these candidates and their families in your prayers as they prepare to celebrate these sacraments.
We are also starting a program to prepare children aged 8 years and above for the Sacrament of Baptism. Fr Simeon will run this program and I am grateful to him for his eagerness in taking on the running of this program. The last day to contact the parish to enrol in the program will be 31st May. I invite you to call Fr Simeon if you would like more information.
Easter is the season in the church’s calendar year when it is customary to bless houses. If you would like your houses blessed, kindly fill out the form in the gathering space and either Fr Simeon or I will contact you to organise a time to bless your house.
We were blessed to have Kanishka with us last weekend to share his vocation story. The next Enquiry Day at the seminary will be Saturday 28th May this year. If you would like to attend, please contact me at the parish office and I will send your name to the Vocations Office. I invite everyone to talk to your sons, grandsons, nephews or friends about the possibility of attending. As Kanishka said last week, it belongs to all of us to encourage vocations to the priesthood.
A reminder that tomorrow, there will be a parish retreat. The “Divine Exchange” Retreat promises to be a day filled with great talks and praise and worship. Starting with Holy Mass, it will certainly be centred on Jesus Christ. It is a wonderful opportunity to come together and spend time to increase our knowledge and love of Jesus. I hope to see many of you there!
We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
