MESSAGE ON THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST (YR C)

Friday 17th June 2022.

My dear people,

I am writing to you today from beautiful Camp Schanck where Fr Simeon and I have been for the past week for our annual Clergy Conference. The Conference has been a time for us to rest and catch up with brother priests. This is Fr Simeon’s first Clergy Conference and four years since I have been to one of these conferences. I was in Mauritius in 2019 for the Papal visit when the last Melbourne Clergy Conference was happening. This has also been a time to think more deeply about the ever-important duty of evangelisation and mission since the theme of the conference this year was “Exploring the dimensions of Mission – understanding our call.” Fr Simeon and I have learned a lot about evangelisation and mission, knowledge which we aim to put into practice in our parish.

Last Sunday, we welcomed Bishop Ashe again when, during Mass at 3pm, he confirmed students from the non-Catholic schools of our parish. We continue to pray for all these young parishioners of ours. We also thank Bishop Ashe for his generosity in giving his time to confirm our parishioners.

The two architects who visited us two weeks ago in order to put forward a proposal to look after our Masterplan have done so this week. Over the next couple of weeks, I will analyse these two proposals in greater detail together with the office staff and the PLT. Again, before any decision is made, I intend to consult with you.

We have finalised the details regarding Fr Simeon’s farewell. It will happen on the 26th June after the 12pm Mass in the cafeteria of CRC and will be a “Bring and Share.” There are signup sheets available in the gathering space for you to indicate your intention to join us and also what you intend to bring. You also have the opportunity to register via Try Booking at https://www.trybooking.com/CAMUC.

The Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, which gives us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. This is indeed one of the greatest treasures which Jesus has given to us for through it, he is always with us. Let us give praise and glory to God for this awesome gift!

We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
