MESSAGE ON THE 16TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR C)

Friday 15th July 2022.

My dear people,

I write my message this week very conscious that I am away for the next two weekends. With the wonders of technology, this message is being written from an altitude of 32,000 feet somewhere over the Pacific Ocean on my way to Los Angeles. From LA, I will travel to Dallas on Saturday for the Divine Renovation Conference where I will meet up with Llewy and Ann. Again, I ask you to pray for the three of us as well as the other people from the archdiocese who will travel to Dallas for the conference. Let us pray that it is a time of renewal for us so that we can bring home what we have learnt in order to bring about missionary renewal in our parish.

This weekend will be Nick’s last weekend with us. I am sure you will agree that Nick has made a most wonderful contribution to the life of the parish. He has shown great care and concern for our parish, particularly for those with whom he has had the opportunity to interact. I would like to thank him for everything he has done for us in his brief time with us. I invite you to join me in praying for Nick as he completes his studies for the priesthood. Hopefully, one day we will welcome him again to our parish. Nick will speak to us at all Masses this weekend.

We are blessed with three initiatives starting in our parish over the next few days. This evening, our Youth Group will run Youth Alpha. May I strongly encourage our younger parishioners from Year 7 to the age of 21 to come to Youth Alpha. It will be a wonderful opportunity to go stronger in the faith and in the knowledge of God. On Sunday the “Children’s Liturgy” will resume at the 10:30am Mass. Finally, on Monday the next Bible Study will start, with Lectio Divina on the Gospel according to St Mark. I would like to sincerely thank the people who are responsible for getting these three projects off the ground. I likewise thank God for the continuing opportunities we have been given to grow in our faith and bring dynamism to it.

We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
