MESSAGE ON THE 25TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR C)
Friday 16th September 2022.
My dear people,
Our parish will run its fifth session of Alpha starting on 12th October. I strongly urge you to think about attending Alpha. We all have gone through times in our lives when we have questioned the very meaning of life. Perhaps you are going through this right now. Perhaps your daughter or son, brother or sister, or colleague is going through this at the moment. Alpha is the best way to come to reflect on the deeper meaning of life. May I ask you to consider attending and encouraging them to attend Alpha? You and they will certainly benefit from it! You can find a promo clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fViYK_Xb3Wg.
Natasha, our Evangelisation Coordinator, will be on maternity leave from 20th September. Once more, I invite you to join me in wishing the best of God’s blessing to Natasha in this final stage of her pregnancy as she and her family prepare to welcome the newest addition to their family unit. An advertisement for the Evangelisation Coordinator’s role for the duration of Natasha’s leave is in the bulletin. Please share the details with anyone whom you think might be able to perform the role.
You may recall that I announced a few months ago that a minivan had been purchased for the parish. One of the reasons was to enable our parishioners who are sick and housebound to be taken to Mass on Sunday. To start this outreach ministry in the parish, we are calling for volunteers who are able to donate a few hours on a Sunday morning. If you are interested, please contact the parish office. I would like to thank in advance those who will volunteer their time for this wonderful ministry. When I was the Assistant Priest in Noble Park, this was one of the outreach ministries offered by the parish. It was a source of great joy for those who benefited from it and a source of great comfort to those who volunteered as drivers.
On the weekend of 8th and 9th October, our parish will host a statue of Our Lady of Tears. The month of October is particularly a Marian Month and this will be a wonderful way to venerate our Blessed Mother. More details will be made available in due course.
Last Wednesday, Fr Joel and I, together with around 150 priests of the archdiocese, attended a Clergy Gathering called by Archbishop Comensoli. It was an opportunity for him to talk to us about some of his desires for the archdiocese. One of the many things he mentioned was the 125th Anniversary of the Dedication of St Patrick’s Cathedral coming up on the 27th October. I am considering attending the celebrations together with you as parishioners. The Clergy gathering itself was wonderful and the fellowship among priests was truly welcome.
We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
