MESSAGE ON THE 21ST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR A)
Friday 25th August 2023
My dear people,
I am excited to announce that the days of the Parish Mission are upon us starting next Monday 28th for three consecutive evenings. The archdiocese has invited Mr John Pridmore to lead the missions in five parishes of the archdiocese and we are thrilled to be one of them. The title of the mission is “Gangland to Promised Land – Melbourne Tour.” Please refer to the flyer in the bulletin as well as in the gathering space for more information. The Parish Mission will be run from 7:30pm until 8:30pm. John will also be here to talk to us at the Masses this weekend. Since the mission will run on the evening of Tuesday 29th August, our parish Mass on that day will be at 9:30am, preceded by Adoration and Confession at 8:30am.
We congratulate and continue to pray for our younger parishioners in Grade 4 who will receive their first Holy Communion over the next few weekends. Most of these will take place at the 6pm, 9am and 10:30am Masses. Seats will be reserved for the first communicants and their families for these Masses. As these children progress to this most significant part of the initiation into the catholic faith, let us pray for a renewed sense of the presence of God in their lives and an increase in their desire to be disciples of our Lord.
Yesterday, we held the second Leadership Summit in our parish. The Leadership Summit provides an opportunity to show gratitude for the contributions of our ministry coordinators to our parish. It was a wonderful evening of fellowship and formation as we heard from John Pridmore about how to allow God to use us as instruments in the work of Missionary Renewal in our parish. May I please ask that you keep our ministry coordinators, the members of our Evangelisation Team and Leadership Team in your prayers as we continue with the formation to enable us to be the agents of missionary renewal in our parish.
Many of you were able to attend the Requiem Mass of the Repose of the Soul of Fr John, our first Parish Priest back in June. Fr John Salvano had made his homily available to us the week following and it completely escaped my mind to make it available to you. Please be advised that it is now on our website.
On 28th October this year, there will be a Fund Raising Concert for our parish. It will be a Live Show Tribute to Elvis Presley at the Performing Arts Centre of CRC, on site here. More details available at ELVIS – Greatest Hits Tickets (123tix.com.au). The funds raised will go towards helping with the operational costs of running our parish. With the increase in interest rates over the past several months, the costs of financing the loan for the church have increased and we need another form of income to help with these costs. Your generosity will go a long way and is very appreciated.
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
