MESSAGE ON THE 28TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR B)

Friday 11th October 2024.

My dear people,

Our Annual Fundraising Concert is now only next week. The organisers have advised that the show will go ahead. There are still many tickets available for sale and again, I strongly encourage you to come to the concert. As mentioned, it is an exciting opportunity to get together for some light entertainment while helping with the ongoing costs of running the parish. During the first half of the show, Sean Luke Spiteri will transform into the Welsh legend, Tom Jones, with signature moves, a big strong Welsh accent and voice, performing classic hits. Sean will end the show with a tribute to Elvis Presley, the KING OF ROCK ‘N’ ROLL singing some of the King’s greatest hits. Tickets are available on:

I would like to thank you for your cooperation in filling out the parish census cards last weekend. I found the response to be simply overwhelming! As I previously mentioned, we conduct our thanksgiving campaign every three years. The campaign is preceded by the parish census where we obtain information about the demographics of the parish. For the next two weekends, the cards will be available in the gathering space for those parishioners who were not at Mass last weekend.

Our menALIVE weekend occurred last weekend. There were a total of 34 participants over the Saturday and Sunday. The men have reported that it was a fantastic time spent together and have mentioned that their relationship with Our Lord has been strengthened.

In my weekly message of 10th May this year, I mentioned to you that our Evangelisation Coordinator, Ann O’Brien, had requested to reduce her working hours at the parish, from 20 to 8 hours per week commencing 20th May. I also mentioned that we had discussed her role and that she would concentrate solely on evangelisation and missionary renewal. Since then, the PLT has realised that there is a gap which needs to be filled to continue the other aspects of the role of Evangelisation Coordinator in our parish. As such, a recruitment process will be started to employ someone to share the role of Evangelisation Coordinator with Ann.

We are blessed that Ablaze Youth has been chosen to host the Encounter Evening organised by the Archdiocese of Melbourne. This unforgettable evening is tailor-made for high school students, offering a unique opportunity to encounter Jesus with prayer, fellowship, food, and, of course, a whole lot of fun. The event will also include Adoration and Reconciliation.  It will be held on Friday, 25 October 2024 from 6.00pm to 9.00pm at the CRC Hall. Please register via trybooking.com/CTDJP

This is going to be the last of my messages coming to you weekly. The next one will be in a fortnight’s time and thereafter, they will be every fortnight. Over the past weeks and months, it has been difficult to advertise all the events in the parish and in the archdiocese due to lack of space in the bulletin. With my message becoming fortnightly, we will have more space in the bulletin to advertise parish and archdiocesan events.

We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
