MESSAGE ON THE PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD (YR C)
Friday 11th April 2025.
My dear people,
We have now completed our Parish Offertory Giving Program. I thank all of you who have already returned your pledge cards. I strongly encourage those of you who have not yet returned your pledge cards to please do so ASAP. This will enable us to gauge the success of the program. Over the past few weeks, we have meditated on how our giving is linked to our generosity and how our generosity should resemble the generosity of God. I sincerely thank all of you for your contributions. Together, we give thanks to God for those of you whose current circumstances have enable you to increase your giving. We continue to appeal to those who are regular contributors to consider increasing the amount given and those who are not giving through the program at the moment to consider joining the program.
The timetable for Holy Week and Easter is now available in the bulletin, on our website and on numerous posters around the church. I would like to direct your attention to the fact that the Easter Vigil will be early this year at 6:30pm. We are able to celebrate it early because daylight saving has ended on 6 April, and sunset will be at 5:50pm. I draw your attention to our Lenten Reconciliation evening on Wednesday 16th April from 7pm until 8:30pm. There will be 5 priests available to hear confessions. Please also note that since the oval opposite the church is unavailable on Good Friday, we will use the CRC grounds for our Good Friday Stations of the Cross. This is also the last weekend to purchase tickets for the raffle which will be drawn after the Easter Vigil.
The Feast Day of our Patron Saint will be on 29th April, and this date is also the Feast Day of our parish. We will celebrate our Parish Feast Day on 26th April 2025 at 7:00pm in the CRC Cafeteria. It will include a spit roast and the cost per person will be $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for child (5-12 years old). Tickets will be sold at all the weekend Masses. Please contact Gordon Ross on 0409 932 876 if you have any questions.
As mentioned, we are also starting different fund-raising activities in the parish for the extension to the church building and to build a hall. Our Parish Bingo has been advertised for several months now. This is a reminder that it starts on Monday 28th April at 7pm at the CRC Cafeteria. We will also have a Dance Night to raise funds, and this will take place on Saturday 31st May. Please put that in your diaries and more information will be made available very soon.
I wish you a very blessed Holy Week. As we enter into the high point of our liturgical calendar, I pray that, as we re-live the last days of the life of Our Lord, we might appreciate anew the infinite love that he has for us.
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Fr Richard Rosse PP
