MESSAGE ON THE 29TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR C)

Friday 14th October 2022.

My dear people,

The fifth session of Alpha started last Wednesday,12th October. We had more than twenty participants and twelve leaders from prior Alpha sessions who joined either as helpers or hosts. May I please invite you to pray for the success of Alpha? As I mentioned during announcements last week, I have found wonderful transformations in the lives of people who have participated in Alpha. Let us pray that the people who are participating this time will also be transformed!

We have received five applications for the position of Parish Secretary and one application for the position of Evangelisation Coordinator. A member of the Human Resources Department of the Archdiocese will join me to interview the applicants next week and hopefully I will be able to announce by next Friday who got the job.

Today, second Friday of the month, we will have our monthly Men’s Group in the parish. Minor changes have been made in the way we conduct the Men’s Group. We will start with a Holy Hour and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 8pm. The Sacrament of Confession will also be available. Following the time of prayer, we will move to the presbytery for supper.

I would like to sincerely thank the five parishioners who volunteered to join the team of church cleaners. It is not too late to volunteer if you find in your heart a desire to help the parish in this way.

A small update about the future of our parish: representatives from the company which we selected to conduct the audit met with members of the Properties and Buildings Department of the Archdiocese last week. I was told that they will contact me soon to organise a meeting with the PLT and me to discuss the future needs of the parish.

On 1st October, members of the PLT, E-Team, Finance Committee and Social Committee spent a day together to pray and reflect on matters pertaining to the leadership and direction of the parish for the future. We started the day with Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Lorraine McCarthy from the Proclaim Team of the Archdiocese led a session on leadership, Natasha led a session about visioning for the future and we finished the day by planning events and activities for the parish for next year. I invite you to continue to pray for missionary renewal in the parish. Again, my aim in all this is to continually find ways to bring in and enliven the lives of all our parishioners with the Light of Christ.

We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
