PLT Parish Update August 2024
With another busy month behind us, here are some key focus areas of the PLT throughout August:
Raising Fathers Event
On August 20th, we were blessed to host Robert Falzon, founder of menAlive, and Doug Black at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Their heartfelt sharing deeply impacted the 30 men present, encouraging us all to seek guidance from our Heavenly Father. A memorable takeaway from Robert’s talk was, “What is not resolved will be repeated.”
Alpha Master Class
On August 31st, our Alpha team attended a Master Class at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Manifold Heights, led by Justine from Alpha Australia. This workshop focused on equipping us to effectively present Alpha within the Catholic context. Since our next Alpha which was to commence Wednesday 25th September has been cancelled, the Alpha Team will continue training & planning for our next Alpha which will take place in the first half of 2025. Exact dates will be advised once decided by the PLT.
Alpha Reunion – “Walking with One”
Preparation for our Alpha Reunion on 7th September was also a key focus for August. The Alpha Reunion is a key annual event where past participants have the opportunity to reunite and share the transformative impact that Alpha has had on their lives, reflecting on deep connections and to renew the sense of belonging experienced by many.
Men Alive Weekend
Preparations continued for our menALIVE weekend, a retreat for men & an opportunity to explore what makes them feel fully alive. The experience of the weekend is powerful and dynamic and many men are inspired and encouraged with a new sense of purpose and mission. Don’t miss our “menALIVE” weekend on October 5th and 6th. This national men’s ministry event aims to renew faith and encourage active participation in church life. Registrations are now open at https://www.trybooking.com/CTXJR
PLT Support to Ministry Coordinators
The PLT also continued to support our ministry coordinators in their efforts to align our ministries to the 5 systems of a missional parish – Worship, Fellowship, Evangelisation, Discipleship & Service. As such some our ministries organised gatherings/afternoon teas in an effort to foster fellowship among those serving in their respective ministries.
We have also taken the opportunity to engage with parents through the Society of Christian Doctrine’s Sacramental preparation program. This program prepares students of non-Catholic schools within our parish community for their sacraments, so together with Br Angelo & Althea, members of our parish have made themselves available to have a cuppa with the parents & familiarise parents with all our parish has to offer.
Warmest Regards,
