PLT Parish Update September 2024
PLT continued to meet in September highlighting areas of discussion and focus for our parish: –
Alpha Reunion – “Walking with One”
The reunion occurred on 7 September with a resounding success. PLT reflected on the magnificent turnout and participation of past and current Alpha members. No specific actions arose although a further “Alpha Reunion’ is to be held in 2025. This is to be tabled in early 2025.
ALPHA – 25 September 2024
PLT made the conscious decision to cancel the planned ALPHA program and focus on planning and preparation for 2025. ALPHA is our key program for evangelisation and PLT will be setting up a new team/Ministry for developing future leaders and strengthening the resource base to meet our future parish needs.
Approval was given for ALPHA members to attend the ALPHA Australia Conference in November 2024.
Men Alive Weekend
Regular updates were provided for the scheduled menALIVE weekend in early October. A sub committee was formed to go through the logistics of the weekend including catering, music, and outreach to name a few. Regular updates were provided on enrollments and additional support required from PLT and Parish office.
PLT Support to Ministry Coordinators
PLT provided regular updates on areas of focus and support to our ministries. PLT met with Welcoming, Hospitality and Cleaning for fellowship and to engage in discussions on how we can build on these important ministries and committees.
PLT discussed the opportunity through the Society of Christian Doctrine’s sacramental preparation program with parents attending information sessions in a more collaborative way.
Support to our Flower Ministry via PLT has been reassigned consistent with PLT lines of accountability.
ABLAZE Ministries
PLT discussed options as to how we can grow these ministries through evangelisation and dedicated resources. Options were considered, no final decision made.
Carols
PLT discussed formation of a working committee to help organize and run our 2024 Carols.
Change of Mass Times
PLT discussed 6-month anniversary change in Mass times. Feedback had been overwhelmingly positive allowing more time for fellowship, evangelisation and time between major liturgical events. It was also tabled that growth in Mass attendance, of 9%, has been evidenced compared to last Mass count in 2023. PLT affirmed no adjustments are required to our current Mass times with a more formal review to occur at the 12-month mark.
