MESSAGE ON THE 3RD SUNDAY OF ADVENT (YR A)

Friday 9th December

My dear people,

Our parish Carols by Candlelight will be held on 18th December from 5:30pm outside the PAC of CRC next door. You are all warmly invited to attend. Apart from carols, there will also be food and drinks available, a jumping castle and face painting to entertain children and great ways to renew the bonds of friendship which unite us. We are hoping that it will be a wonderful event in the life of the parish and strongly encourage you to come in big numbers.

It was truly wonderful to have Tien attend the Masses last weekend. Thank you to everyone who came to the celebration of his ordination to the diaconate and particular thanks to the Social Committee for putting everything together at short notice. I am also grateful to all those who brought something to share. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring the parish together. There are some photos of the event on our parish Facebook page.

Today, I bring the news that a principal has been appointed for St George Preca Catholic Primary School. Michael Ozburn will take up the role from Term 3 in 2023. Michael is currently Deputy Principal at Queen of Peace Catholic Primary School in Altona Meadows, with particular responsibility for student wellbeing. Michael brings great enthusiasm and a depth of knowledge about leadership and working with the whole school community from his current and past roles to the role of principal. May I invite you to join me in praying for Michael and for the community at St George Preca at this important time. Mrs Aggi Parisi will be the Acting Principal for Terms 1 and 2 next year.

Tomorrow, members of the Leadership Team and I will go to Manningham Uniting Church in Templestowe to look at the facilities there. We were advised by the architects that they worked with the Manningham Uniting Church on a project similar to ours namely, expanding their facilities to accommodate the growth in the community. I will be able to share more news with you about this.

There are two ministries in the parish where volunteers are needed. We need parishioners to help with flower arrangements and also with looking after the Piety Stall before and after Mass. I appeal to your generosity with these two ministries. There is more information in the bulletin about joining them.

The times for the Masses at Christmas in our parish are in the bulletin. Particularly, I bring to your attention the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Wednesday 21st December from 7:30pm until 9pm. Fr Joel and I will be joined by Fr Karmel Borg and Fr Frank Buhagiar.

We continue turning to our patron saint, and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
