MESSAGE ON THE 5TH SUNDAY OF LENT (YR A)

Friday 24th March 2023.

My dear people,

The Parish Town Hall, which was held yesterday, provided an opportunity for the 40 people who attended to hear about the financial status of the parish as at the end of 2022. Nimmi and I also spoke about the results of the survey and our achievements since the last Parish Town Hall respectively. I also spoke about our plans for the future and we finished with some fellowship and refreshments. The Parish Town Hall was videotaped and will be made available on our website in the next week or so.

As advertised, this weekend, a statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be in the parish to help us celebrate the Annunciation of the Lord, a great Solemnity of our faith celebrating the Incarnation of Jesus. The statue will be crowned at the start of the 6pm Mass tomorrow and a short talk will follow at the end of the Mass to explain the significance of this particular statue. Finally, there will be a procession through the parish grounds after Mass. The short talk will also occur at the end of all Masses on Sunday.

Our monthly parish BBQ will take place this Sunday at 1pm. You are all most welcome. It would be great to see many people there and we hope that those who have not been to the 12pm Mass will return for some fellowship.

Holy week starts on the weekend of 1st/2nd April. The times for Masses and Liturgies of Holy Week have been finalised and are advertised in the bulletin and through other channels of communication. Please familiarise yourselves with them. A special note that the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available from 7:30pm until 9:30pm on Wednesday 5th April.

We are still in need of volunteers for the different Masses and liturgies of Holy Week. As usual, I appeal to the generosity of our parish readers and EMHCs for your assistance for Holy Week. A gentle reminder to write your name down for just one Mass/Liturgy and you will be contacted if we need additional help from you.

I will be away from the parish from Sunday evening until Friday evening. My dad turned 70 on Wednesday and my brother, my sister and I are taking him to New Zealand for a week. During my absence, Fr Joel will look after the parish. Please be advised that there will be no weekly message from me next week.

We continue turning to our patron saint and asking for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
