Baptism Information

At St Catherine of Siena Parish, parents MUST attend the Baptism Preparation Meeting AND a Presentation of the Child to the community prior to the baptism. Godparents are strongly encouraged to attend the meeting and the Welcoming Rite. If possible, please get someone to look after the children for the Baptism preparation.

We encourage those who live outside the parish boundaries, to baptise their child in their own parish community. Although non-parishioners can still be baptised at St Catherine of Siena Parish, we require them to talk to our parish priest first before submitting their application.

Baptisms are usually celebrated after the 10.30am Sunday Mass (at approximately 11.50am) on the first and last SUNDAY of each month. However, this pattern usually changes at Christmas and New Year, at Easter, and at some other times of the year.

GODPARENTS need to be:

  1. baptised,
  2. practising Catholics,
  3. at least 16 years of age, and
  4. who have also received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

They may NOT be the parents of the child. One godparent is sufficient. Because godparents speak and act on behalf of the Catholic community, a baptised Christian from another denomination cannot be a godparent, but is most welcome to act as a Christian witness (and have their name inscribed on the Baptism Certificate).

The Parish suggest an offering of $100.00  Please give your donation when you are here at any of the Masses for ‘Presentation of Children’. Thank you.
