MESSAGE ON THE 22ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR C)
Friday 29th August 2025.
My dear people,
The next fundraising activity in our parish is a Grand Final Fundraiser which will be held on Saturday 27th September 2025. The Parish Fundraising Committee met last night to discuss this event. With the Grand Final starting at 2:30pm, we will “open the doors” at 1:30pm, starting with a sausage sizzle. Please register via this TryBooking link https://www.trybooking.com/DFEHR so we can organise how many sausages and other items to purchase. Entry tickets will be $5. All other prices will be displayed on a poster that will be available next week. Just a reminder that the members of the Fundraising Committee are Robert Durai, Shirley Chung, Angelina Forneas, Joe White, Joe Sequeira, Sonny Mallia and me. Please do not hesitate to contact any of us for ideas you may have about fundraising activities. Again, the purpose of the fundraiser is to enable required refurbishments to the church and build a parish hall.
The archdiocese is running the Archbishop’s Campaign again this year following the huge success of last year’s campaign. Information booklets about the campaign are available in the gathering space for you to take home and learn more about the campaign. The funds raised will help the archdiocese with the following: Corpus Christi College Building Fund, Priests Retirement Foundation, University of Divinity Building Fund, John Pierce Centre, and other entities such as Catholic community agencies and community service organisations. It is still possible to take envelopes to fill out at home and return at Mass over the next couple of weeks. The envelopes will be on the dedicated table in the gathering space.
Over the past four weeks, it was wonderful to accompany our younger parishioners from the two parish primary schools as they received Holy Communion for the first time. The younger parishioners who do not attend the two parish schools will receive Holy Communion for the first time over the weekend of 13th and 14th September. We pray particularly that these children and their families realise how awesome it is to be receiving Holy Communion for the first time and to make sure it is not an isolated event in their lives but one which ignites in their heart a great love for Jesus and for his Church.
We are blessed to welcome Dr Edward Sri, a renowned Catholic speaker, author, theologian and engaging communicator, who will be giving a talk titled “Making Missionary Disciples.” This event is hosted by Parousia Media, and it is a gift to have it right here in our own community. Do not miss this opportunity, and please invite others to come along. Register here: https://app.tickets.org.au/Parousia/EdwardSriCS. Dr Sri will explore the true meaning of discipleship and how becoming a missionary disciple can transform your life, parish, ministry, family and community. His talk is based on the acclaimed book Into His Likeness: Be Transformed as a Disciple of Christ (Ignatius Press).
Date: Sunday 31 August 2025
Time: 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Venue: CRC Hall
We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.
St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.
Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
