MESSAGE ON ‘THE MOST HOLY TRINITY’ SUNDAY (YR A)

My dear people,
I would like to thank everyone who braved the cold and came to our parish’s Marian Procession on Saturday 23rd May. It was indeed a most fitting way to honour our Blessed Mother, since under the title of Our Lady, Help of Christians, she is the patroness of Australia. I sincerely thank the team who organised the event for us and all those who participated on the day. It was a wonderful event. This weekend, Sunday 31st May, we conclude our “Marian Month” of intentional devotions to Our Lady and the statue of Our Lady will go back to the devotional area.
Two Sundays ago, 17th May, at 3pm and 5pm, our younger parishioners from St George Preca Catholic Primary School were confirmed by Bishop Martin Ashe, the Auxiliary Bishop for the Western Region. Last Sunday 24th May, at 3pm and 5pm, our younger parishioners from Christ the Priest Catholic Primary School were also confirmed by Bishop Martin Ashe. We continue to pray for all these younger parishioners of ours that, in confirming their faith, the Holy Spirit will fill them with gentle promptings to always stay close to our Lord. We also thank Bishop Ashe for his generosity in giving his time to confirm them.
May I ask you, of your generosity, to pray for our Alpha participants who will be on a one-day Holy Spirit Retreat tomorrow. They are going away, as it were, to St Joseph’s By The Sea in Williamstown. Fr Vespa will be with them for the whole day as will the Alpha Team. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will fill them with his seven gifts so that they can be inspired to be men and women who desire to become closer disciples of Our Lord, and never tire of seeking to deepen their relationship with him.
A reminder that I will be on annual leave from 7th June until 3rd July. Fr David Cartwright and I will travel together to Johannesburg and Mauritius. I will also travel to New York to attend the Ordination to the Priesthood of Deacon Nick Waldron. Deacon Nick, a candidate for the priesthood for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York, spent a month with us from June to July in 2022 on a pastoral internship. I was quite moved to receive an invitation to attend his ordination and since it is on 20th June, which is during my annual leave this year, I decided to attend. Please pray for Deacon Nick as he prepares for his Ordination to the Priesthood.
My next fortnightly message will be on 10th July. I have asked the PLT to use the space in the bulletin to communicate with you about any matters which may be necessary.
