MESSAGE ON THE 25TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR C)

My dear people,
There is only one week to go before the AFL Grand Final Fundraiser on Saturday 27th September 2025. Details of the event are available on the poster in the gathering space, on our website and on our Facebook page. Furthermore, when you book for this event on TryBooking, the confirmation email will also contain all the prices and other details. We kindly ask you to please register via this link https://www.trybooking.com/DFEHR so we can organise how many sausages and other items to purchase.
May I make a special appeal and ask you to please support this fundraiser? My desire and wish is for this to be a wonderful parish family event and bring our young people together. Many of the other fundraisers have targeted adults since they occurred on a Saturday evening. The current one is to take place on Grand Final day in the afternoon. It would be so wonderful to see the hall full of families with children running around and having fun. I leave this to your consideration and pray that you will be able to come in large numbers.
A final notification that Deacon Ian will be ordained a priest tomorrow. We kindly ask those of you who have booked seats on the bus to be here at 8:15am so the bus can leave promptly at 8:30am. Please be advised that the parish will subsidise the cost of the buses and we are asking you to contribute $15 per person for adults and children 12 years and above. A reminder that Deacon Ian will return to the parish as Fr Ian to be the Principal Celebrant at all Masses on the weekend of 4th and 5th October. The 12:30pm Mass on 5th October will be followed by a celebration of his Ordination to the Sacred Priesthood of Jesus Christ. That event will be combined with our annual International Food Day.
This coming Sunday 21st September, immediately after the 12:30pm Mass, we will celebrate the 12th Anniversary of the Dedication of the Church and my 15th Anniversary of Ordination to the priesthood. I look forward to celebrating these two occasions with you.
There will an evening of prayer and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament this evening. There has been a small change and Mass will now start at 7pm, with the rosary to precede at 6:30pm. Mass will be followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, prayers and ending with Mass again at 12 midnight. The Sacrament of Confession will also be available between the two Masses. Parishioners are most welcome to come and join. For more information, please refer to posters in the gathering space.
I finish my fortnightly message this week with some very important news. After careful consideration and conversations between Fr Alex Clemente, Parish Priest of Melton and Melton South, members of the Vicar General’s Office and me, there is a proposal to change the boundaries of the parishes of Caroline Springs, Melton and Melton South. You will receive an email soon directing you to a letter from Fr Alex and me to parishioners of the three parishes. The letter invites comments and questions to be sent to our parish’s email address. Please feel free also to ask me any questions when we see each other this weekend.
