MESSAGE ON THE 29TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YR C)

My dear people,
I would like to start by thanking all of you for your prayers for my aunt and my family. As mentioned at Masses two weekends ago, I had to go to Mauritius for an emergency as we were told that she is very unwell. It was wonderful to see my aunt and spend some time alone with her as well as having the opportunity to pray together and celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick with her. It was also very difficult to leave when I left Mauritius on Tuesday. While there is a heaviness with all of us at the moment, it was good to have started celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation with the Grade 3s of SGP this week. I will celebrate with the rest of their students as well as with all of the students of Christ the Priest next week.
A reminder that the next fundraising activity in our parish is a Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons and the Beach Boys Concert – A tribute to America’s most iconic vocal groups of the 60’s. The details are:

Walk-ins on the night are welcome. Again, the purpose of the fundraiser is to enable required refurbishments to the church and build a parish hall. I hope to see a large number of parishioners there. All for a good cause!
The Archdiocese of Melbourne is blessed to host the Australian Catholic Youth Festival this year. Young people from Year 9 to age 25 are invited to join our parish group for ACYF Melbourne (Sun 30 Nov to Tue 2 Dec). This three-day festival is one of faith, prayer and community – like a mini World Youth Day! It will provide a great chance to meet young Catholics, grow in faith, and be inspired in daily life. Cost: $100 (minimum) per person (the parish will cover the remaining $290 of the $390 total by means of fundraising). The cost does not include food, and transportation will be sorted later. The sign-up deadline is 22 October. There will be an information session on Sunday 19 October at 5pm in the church meeting rooms.
I conclude my fortnightly message this week with a reminder of the proposal to change the boundaries of the parishes of Caroline Springs, Melton and Melton South. As previously mentioned, an email has been sent directing you to a letter from Fr Alex and me to parishioners of the three parishes about a month ago. The letter invites comments and questions to be sent to our parish’s email address. Please feel free also to ask me any questions when we see each other this weekend.
