MESSAGE ON THE 1ST SUNDAY OF ADVENT (YR A)

Friday 28th November 2025.

My dear people,

ACYF is finally here!!! 34 of our younger parishioners will be attending. This three-day festival, from 30th November to 2nd December, is one of faith, prayer and community – like a mini–World Youth Day! It will provide a great opportunity to meet young Catholics, grow in faith, and be inspired in daily life. I am truly looking forward to spend these three days with our participants. I reiterate my request for prayers for a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ for these parishioners of ours.  The total cost to the parish of sending them to ACYF is $12,500. I would like to sincerely thank you for the contributions to the four fund raising activities. These have brought in a total of $13,794.15. I am truly grateful to all of you for having contributed so generously. The amount above what was required will be credited to Ablaze Youth Group and Ablaze Young Adults for their ongoing activities.

A reminder that we will run our Annual Carols by Candlelight again this year. It will be held on 14th December. Food will be available from 4pm as well as different activities for children. The singing of carols will begin at 6pm and the evening will conclude at 8pm. I would like to thank the Carols Committee who have been working very hard to make sure that our carols event is a great success again. Please put the date in your diaries. I look forward to meeting many of you there.

As it seems to happen every year, this year has flown right past us. The season of Advent starts this Sunday as we start preparations for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is very easy to get lost with the noise of Christmas parties and dinners and End of Year celebrations in the next weeks. May I urge you to remain focussed on what Christmas is about namely, that God became man and was born in the poverty of a stable in Bethlehem, lived an authentic human life in Nazareth for thirty years and concluded his life on earth by dying and rising for our salvation in Jerusalem.

Our Advent Bible Study started last Tuesday after the 7pm Mass and will continue over the next three Tuesdays. Please know that you can attend even if you missed the first session.

The Liturgy Committee met last Tuesday evening and have confirmed the Christmas Mass times for this year. They are as follows:

Wednesday 24th December: 5pm, 7pm, and 9pm and

Thursday 25th December: 12am (Midnight), 8:30am and 10:30am.

Please note that there will be NO 12:30pm Mass.

It is with great sadness that I announce that Mrs Adele Vesty has accepted the position of Principal of Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School in Werribee. While it is sad that Adele is leaving our community, we are immensely grateful for the wonderful work she has accomplished over her seven years as Principal of Christ the Priest Catholic Primary School. We wish her all of God’s choicest blessings as she begins this new chapter of her life. We will farewell Adele at the 10:30am Mass on Sunday 7th December 2025. Please be advised that the process to appoint her successor has begun. I look forward to announcing the name of the new Principal at CtP once that appointment has been made.

We continue turning to our patron saint and we ask for her intercession.

St Catherine of Siena, Pray for us.

Yours sincerely in Christ,

Fr Richard Rosse PP
