PLT Parish Update June / July 2026

Youth Ministry Leader Position

Melissa de Sieno has accepted the role of Youth Ministry Coordinator.

Synod Consultation Forum – Saturday, 25 July

Tina, Tony, Stephen, Ryan and Ann attended the Synod Consultation Forum. All PLT attendees agreed that it was a positive experience, with the structure and format of the forum being well received.

Alpha Fundraising – After Alpha

A total of $1,350 was raised through the Alpha fundraising initiative.

2026 Carols

Tash has agreed to coordinate the performances. Karolina did a great job coordinating the carols last year and will continue in this role for 2026. The plan is to meet more regularly as we get closer to the event.

Proclaim26

Fourteen parishioners attended Proclaim26 over two days.

Key areas of focus included:

  • Evangelisation and intentional discipleship in the 21st century
  • Being a “bridge of trust”
  • The path to discipleship
  • Drawing out people’s lived relationship with Christ

The workshops were also very informative and provided an opportunity to learn from and share in the experiences of other parishes.

Alpha

The next Alpha program will run from 7 October to 2 December.

TryBooking, the QR code and CRC booking for MacKillop have all been completed.

VIA

VIA is going very well, with a great format, positive atmosphere and a strong sense of connection.

Ablaze Women

Ablaze Women is going well. Taryn has joined the team and will assist with leading sessions.

St Carlo Acutis Relic Visit

The parish will host a major pilgrim relic of Saint Carlo Acutis (pericardium/heart tissue relic).

This will be a unique opportunity, as our parish will be the only location hosting this relic during its visit.

  • Arrival: 10 October at 8:00am
  • Departure: 11 October at 5:00pm
  • An all-night vigil will be held with the relic of St Carlo Acutis.
  • A roster of venerators will be organised, with supervision provided throughout the vigil.
  • The church will remain open for anyone wishing to come and pray during the vigil.

Visit by John Lam – CAM Proclaim Office

John Lam visited the parish to discuss parish formation offerings and the opportunities available through Proclaim.

Key points discussed:

  • An overview of the formation opportunities offered by Proclaim.
  • Our parish is progressing well on its journey, while recognising that there are still challenges.
  • The Vibrant, Vital & Viable parish audit assessment tools were discussed.
  • New initiatives were explored, including the possibility of clustering parishes for activities such as youth formation, Alpha and Bible studies.
  • John Lam felt that our parish could potentially act as a hub for these initiatives and noted that we are currently an example of mission in action.
  • John also commented that things are moving forward and that cultures are shifting.

Next Steps

The PLT will take away the ideas and programs suggested by John Lam, review the content and consider how these opportunities may apply to our parish.

The PLT will reconvene on 27 August to discuss the opportunities and determine potential next steps.

St Catherine of Siena, pray for us
